This Fried Fish Sandwich is the ultimate comfort food: flaky white fish coated in a seasoned crispy crust, layered with tangy slaw and zesty tartar sauce, all between a soft toasted bun. Perfect for lunch, dinner, or anytime a craving hits!

🍽 Ingredients (Servings: 2)

For the Fish:

  • 2 white fish fillets (cod, haddock, or tilapia)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Sandwich:

  • 2 brioche or hamburger buns, toasted
  • Lettuce or shredded cabbage
  • Tomato slices (optional)
  • Dill pickle chips (optional)

For the Tartar Sauce:

  • ⅓ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped pickles or relish
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Fish:
🐟 Pat fish fillets dry and season with salt and pepper. Set up a breading station with flour in one bowl, beaten egg and milk in the second, and panko mixed with paprika and garlic powder in the third.

2️⃣ Bread the Fish:
🍞 Dredge each fillet in flour, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the seasoned panko. Press gently to adhere.

3️⃣ Fry the Fish:
🍳 Heat oil (about ½ inch deep) in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry fillets for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

4️⃣ Make the Tartar Sauce:
🥄 In a small bowl, mix mayo, pickles, lemon juice, and Dijon. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5️⃣ Assemble:
🍔 Spread tartar sauce on the bottom bun, layer with lettuce, crispy fish, tomato, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
