Prepare the Cake Batter: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Bake to Perfection: Pour batter evenly into prepared pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Make the Fudge Frosting: In a large bowl, beat butter and cocoa powder until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with milk, beating until fluffy. Mix in vanilla. Add more milk if needed to reach a spreadable consistency.

Assemble the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with frosting. Top with second layer and frost the top and sides evenly.

Slice and Enjoy: Garnish with chocolate shavings, fresh berries, or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired. Serve with a tall glass of cold milk or a hot espresso.
